10 and 14 of March: INTERVENTION AND CRITICAL THINKING

 

During these two classes, we have reviewed unit 3, that mainly focuses on intervent
ion in guidance. We have focused on the humanistic factor that has to do with educational guidance. This humanistic model refers mainly on how teachers must approach students personally, taking into account their problems.

I find this topic of the subject really important, as because of having some teachers that made me feel comfortable in the class by getting to know my problems or my situations, and having teachers that supported, helped, and empathised with me is one of the reasons of why I have decided to become a teacher, to help students in the same way my teachers helped me.

In the other class (14th March), we have focused on critical thinking. In my opinion, is a very important issue, as it should be treated taking into account two perspectives: the first one should be using that critical thinking in order to question about the different learning you acquire, as it is not correct to just accept everything, they teach you without contrasting it anywhere. However, we should take into account another perspective which is trusting our teachers, as they are supposed to be prepared people whose information is valid and correct. As I see it, there should be a balance between those two perspectives. Here is a video of how use critical thinking in the classroom and how aim students to use it:



Finally, in these classes we have commented the different models of intervention (counselling, peer tutoring, consulting, and service model). I found it really important, because it does not give only one way of intervening, but many, that can be adapted not only to the situation it is required, but to the teacher style itself.

  As I did with my previous post, I will unify the content and the reflexions of the 21 st of March and 24 th of March, as they revolved around the same kind content. Specifically, I am going to talk about the different parenting styles. This is not a new topic for none of us, as we have learnt it in the previous course of Psychology of Education, so it was easier to understand it in this subject, as we had previous knowledge. As we have seen, we can distinguish 4 different parenting styles: permissive, neglectful, or uninvolved, authoritative, and authoritarian. 03 of February: DEFINITION OF E.G (3.0) AND VISUAL METAPHORS

  Again, we have focused on the definitions, as each team had to propose its own definition. My team (who we have decided to call “PAN”) has proposed the following: Educational guidance is an essential intervention in the school life of students with the implication of teachers, families and all the educational team working with the pupil. The main goal of an educational guidance is to obtain a better education and environment for the individual. However, today we have focused our class on the visual metaphors. A visual metaphor is an image/picture representation of something which purpose is to suggest an association or similarity to another concept, and our task was to create one per group in order to understand better the process that happens in educational guidance. FINAL POST AND REFLECTION

This post is going to be quite different as the others that I have done during this course, as I am going to make a reflection in general, upon the subject and, most specifically, upon the blog’s project. Firstly, I have really enjoyed what I have learnt during the subject. I consider that this is something all teachers should learn. It is also too different of the other subjects we have had until now, as they were too numerical or theoretical (focused only on the theory and not in its applications in real life situations). I have experienced as well that I am not able to face the teaching occupation with many of them. But with Educational Guidance and Tutorial Action I have been able to learn how to manage different real-life situations and I have found the content of this subject really useful.
